Anubis

Anubis, the God of the Crossing and the Tomb, was charged with the rule of the underworld in place of his father Osiris before Osiris was killed by his brother Set. Anubis' mother was Nephthys, the wife of Set and sister of Isis (Osiris' wife). If that is not confusing enough... Osiris, Set, Isis, and Nephythys were all brother and sister. The story goes, Nephythys changed her appearance to look like Isis and seduced Osiris. When Set discovered this he Killed Nephythys and then Osiris. Nephythys gave birth to Anubis, the son of Osiris, in the underworld. After Osiris arrived to rule the underworld, Anubis was charged with leading the dead into the underworld to be judged worthy of immortality. Anubis is almost always associated with the tomb. Anubis is said to weigh the deceased heart against the feather of Ma'at (truth). One worthy of immortality will have a true heart that is "as light as a feather." Osiris deems worthy of the afterlife only those whose hearts are true.
